Les Baxter - "Space Escapade." OK, I am MEGA-excited to post this one. I acquired a EXCELLENT first press mono copy of this one on eBay for $20 with free shipping. This is normally one of the priciest Baxter LPs out there (commonly selling for $75+ for a decent copy, and often higher). This was actually listed as "VG" but the wax is really spotless — VG++ and the cover is super-clean...just a bit of flaking at the top. NO handwriting (amazing!) This is something that rarely happens with a record of this vintage. Whoever owned it was likely an audiophile, keeping his/her records in great shape.
"Space Escapade" is certainly one of the coolest, craziest and most recognizable mid-century album covers of all time. But what a great space age bachelor pad LP in general -- dancing strings, piano, theremin, harp — it's just all over the place in all the right ways.
